DoD Network Information center (1 reply)

I get attempted connections form "DoD Network Information Center" every single minute (see attacked screen cap). It's been going on for at least a week now. It starts the moment my computer is connected to the internet, even if I have nothing else running. I'd really appreciate if anyone could explain this.

Peer Block 1.2 reports Peerguardian 2 running but it isn't (1 reply)

I keep getting the warning at start up from Peer Block that Peerguardian 2 is running and that it's not a good idea to have both running and I should close Peerguardian 2. I haven't had Peerguardian on my system in a few, years ever since I installed Peer Block 1.1 and more recently, version 1.2. Actually, I installed the new version (1.2) because of this message thinking it would go away but it hasn't. I thought maybe Peerguardian didn't completely remove itself when I uninstalled it years ago so tonight, after getting the PeerBlock warning message again, I looked in Program files and App data folder and then searched my registry and no instances of Peerguardian are anywhere to be found. I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of PeerBlock and that, this isn't interfering with it's operation.
Thanks

adding lists (no replies)

Hi Markside,

I've reinstalled my pc,installed peerblock and put in my reg info. Configured it and then copied a backup of all lists I wanted to use to peerblock directory. Restarted system. But they don't get read by peerblock. Only the 4 standard lists.

Is there any chance ro re-init my Iblocklist backup or do I have to download from iblocklist again and put them in manually?

thank you
/regards

Allow all connections from X process (no replies)

I would like to recommend a new feature that would allow any IP connection from a specified process.
This would facilitate the proper function of a program without having to create an "(skype) allow ip list" just so it can work.

Thanks.

I am suddenly getting this new uncaught exception - I didn't see it in the other forums from 9 months ago - and when PeerBlock is open, the error pops up a new error window every few seconds, populating the screen with a large number of them in minutes. Please help!

How to use a PeerBlocker list on an Apache Webserver (1 reply)

I am not sure a list would be the best way to approach the issue. I have a few specific IP addresses that have become total nuisances that I would like to block access to. I am a little unsure of how to create my own list to do this.
Does the list need to have a specific name and be a text file? I have downloaded some of the "by-the-country IP" block lists but when I open them in notepad, the format does not seem to follow a specific pattern.
Yet, as shown below, if I cut and paste a line from that list, it takes on a very organized easy to understand layout.
What program would I use to create my own custom list that could be used by Peerblock and what name would I give it and where should I keep it?
Additionally, should I continue to add to the first list I make or create new lists as needed? Is there any advantage to having multiple short lists rather than one long list?

The information on how to do that is probably somewhere in How-To docs but I have not yet located it.

I could even use the "Block By Country" IP lists if I knew the correct format to use on a system that is an Apache Webserver since no one outside the US would ever by using the hosted websites. I am afraid I could end up blocking all access to Port 80 and/or port 443. All of the sites are normally https but occasionally there might be one using http.

Thanks for any advice

Dear members i have free space on my server so i would like to offer it here.

I can create virtual server with Linux OS and it means you can use it for non stop running remote desktop, torrent client for seeding, private proxy server, webserver or anything else that is able to run on Linux.

Please let me know if you need anything like that and willing to also contribute some money to pay server costs.

Thank you,

I am a non professional home user. No one else has access to my pc. Is it unusual for Eli Lilly and Company to be showing as blocked while my windows 10 is starting up? No Browsers are open or desktop programs. Just some security and pc optimization monitoring startups. Their ip is 40.76.30.255:137

Much Thanks

I've got years of logs (190GB!) in C:\Program Files\PeerBlock\archives even though my PeerBlock 1.2 Settings 1 shows:

History: "Log Allowed & Blocked", "Archive & Remove" Every "7" days.
History size: 100 MB

What can I do to make PeerBlock's archives use a more limited amount of my disc than 190GB, please?

My local IP displays in source column??? Should I be worried?? (no replies)

I added all the free lists from iBlocklist.

When I have my torrent program open and downloading torrents, I notice PeerBlock block goes crazy... blocking all kinds of IP addresses... Which is good...

99% of the time my local IP address is in the Destination column... which I would expect...
(I understand that software on my computer phones home and gets blocked and it shows me as source. I am not counting this)

But 1 category from iBlocklist (which my computer would never ever have anything to do with) shows my IP in the source column. Again this is only when torrenting...

Should I be worried about this???

auto-exit PeerBlock when shutting down PC (no replies)

Hey there,
I just have got a technical question on peerblock portable. I put it into Autostart and this works pretty well. But when I shut down my notebook and start it again later, I do get an error message, that Peerblock hasn't been closed properly and now "cleans up" (whatever that means). I'm able to start it directly after the error message. Since most of portable programs are able to close automatically when I shut down my PC, I wonder what PeerBlock does. And most important question: Is there a possibility (in Windows 7 Pro) to auto-close/auto-exit a program like peerblock, when I turn off my PC?

Thank you in advance
M.

Block happened from what list? (And why wasn't that listed?) (no replies)

I see the list of blocks scroll by -- but no way to go back to find out which list caused the block; in one case I have several lists and to identify which list, I have to search each list for A.B.C.D then A.B.C then A.B etc... which after 8 lists, is a lot of searching if it's the last one.
Is there a way to quickly search all lists to find out which list has the ip?
I was able to take the .list file and get the actual text file, but no way to map the text file back to the list name itself...
----
I notice (v1.2) that after a while, the list stops updating; I will press "clear list" and try to load a webpage and know that something is blocking it; but nothing is listed in the screen as blocked. (Disable peerblock & web page loads fine)
---

Completely unrelated, what format is the cache file in?

Thanks.

V1.1 'disable' kills all tcp/ip connections. (no replies)

I have a win2k server running v1.1
If I press "disable"; it kills all tcp/ip connections, which then triggers the system to reboot (via script sensing that the NIC is no longer functioning).
Is there something I can do so I can disable it w/o it causing this problem?
(FWIW: If I use taskkill to kill peerblock, it also kills all tcp/ip connections)
thanks.

So i switched to bell internet and got their homehub 2000 (segemcom 5250). When I plugged in directly to my computer, my Peerblock would not allow any communication with the bell ISP - no surfing or even google (nor does it indicate that it's blocking anything), unless I disable filtering private networks.

However, when I plug it into my stand alone router that I was using previously, and connect my computer to that, everything works normally even with all filters active. Speed took a negligible dip, and jitter went from 0 to 1ms. I don't know if that affects online gaming, hope not guess I'll find out soon. Turned off the wireless functions of bell's all in one modem/router as I wanted to do anyway because I don't know if they've fixed the WPS exploit completely.. or at all since they've never admitted it. Anyways:

Am I more secure or did i just bypass my own security?

Hello Peerblock staff.

Can a moderator or admin please remove my account and email address off Peerblock. I didn't see a way to do that in the control panel. One reason is because I am changing my email address and will no longer be using the email address that I am registered here with. Another reason is I no longer wish to have an account here at Peerblock.

Thank you. It was a nice ride, but I think Peerblock has just reached the end of the road. If it starts up again, I will consider coming back on with my new email address, but for now, I wish to have me account and my email address taken off Peerblock.
