Hi there, I'm new to the forum!

I'm getting a ton of messages. Groups of 11 packets are being blocked by peerblock the look like.

38.113.165.74

The Range is listed as

Performance Systems International-ed2k/ap2p

Source is 192.168.1.106:61505

The number after the colon keeps increasing by 1 for each time.

Destinations are

38.113.165.107
38.113.165.101
38.113.165.68
38.113.165.98
38.113.165.71
38.113.165.104
38.113.165.74
38.113.165.107
38.113.165.101
38.113.165.68
38.113.165.98

and it's port :443

Which seems to be something in Kaspersky's network.

Any idea how to analyze this?

Thanks for this great program.

Peerblock Lists have disappeared from "Check For Updates" (1 reply)

Hi I have a fairly large number of lists and Peerblock normally check them each day. I have a subscription with iBlocklist.

Today, all the lists are missing from "Check For Updates"and only the basic P2P list is ticked in List Manager.
The 'lists' sub-folder is still there in the program files/Peerblock folder and has 76 list files and 3 p2B files

If I select 'add' in List Manager, I can re-add those listed in the drop-down list next to the URL box but it doesn't seem to be referring to the 'lists' folder when checking for updates.

I have tried reinstalling Peerblock and keeping the settings, lists etc, but it's still the same.

Any suggestions other than re-entering each list one by one?

How To Use PeerBlock Now That Bluetack is Defunct (1 reply)

According to others on this forum, Bluetack is not updating their lists anymore due to the untimely demise of it's senior admin. My question is how to use Peerblock from here forward. I see some other list authors including I-Blocklist and Squidblacklist who both charge a fee. Is paying a subscription the only way to keep PeerBlock updated as we move forward in time?

I was recommended Peer Block by a fellow BBS sysop, and I thought this was the place to acquire the program, to help weed out some of the twit/spam/hacking, etc. type IP addresses that would try to crash my BBS.

However, I was unable to find a link for the program. I'm running Windows 7 32-bit, and Synchronet BBS software 3.16 -- any help would be appreciated.

Peerblock occasionally hangs up (1 reply)

Recently I've started to have this issue. Peerblock has sometimes hang up on the background and doesn't respond anymore. Only way to get it back is to close it from task manager and then start again. I can't really pinpoint how long at times it has been unresponsive before I notice it. So I can't tell what is causing it. It happens maybe couple of times per day.

I have windows 8.1 64bit. I don't really have a clue what could be causing the issue. All I know it started relatively recently (within last month). I'll happily post any logs you may need in order to solve this. Could reinstalling peerblock help?

my peerblock version: 1.0.2.693

Why is the main site redirecting to the forums? Was PeerBlock taken down? Where is the official download for PeerBlock 1.2?

Can someone please let us know what is going on?

Is PeerBlock really discontinued? (no replies)

Sick and Tired (2 replies)

I hope everyone is getting sick and tired of the powers that be can change the rules to suit their current needs, then allowing large companies to do the same. Then want to fine us and throw us in jail at the drop of a hat. Okay here is my feelings on file sharing, I DO NOT have a problem with it because these companies that are making such a fuss over it like Sony for example. They are making money hand over fist and then selling us the tools we need to share things if we choose to do so.
Today I burnt six movies for friends of mine on a DVD burner made by Sony on DVDs made by Sony. My point is they are making money on both sides of this whole copyBULLSHIT! It was back in 2003 that they seized companies and arrested like 55 people which owned tax paying business with employees for making bongs and pipes because they could be used for illegal purposes. This is no different when I buy a burner and blank DVDs and a program to burn disk, guess what yer damn right I am going to burn copies for my friends again and again with every @#$%& movie I purchase. And I am paying for the movie ,the disk, the burner, the program and that's how come they were able to afford to make the shitty movie in the first place. These super stars and political @#$%& hats that want to decide whats right and wrong for the rest of the world all the while not being held accountable for their actions as they make money hand over fist from both sides of an argument while we take a sack lunch to work hoping if we do that all week we can take our wife and two kids to see a movie. Which if you haven't been to in a while you can plan on a minimum of forty bucks to do that. So if you pack your lunch for two weeks in a row you should be able to get some popcorn and candy providing you split the drink. File sharing is not going to starve any of these people or put them out of work, and chances are I paid to see the show, liked it enough to purchase the DVD for my father all before I downloaded it for my son to take over to his girlfriends house so they could listen to it as they were busy fooling around. What's right for me may not be right for some of you just the same as some of the choices you make may not be right for me but are the right decision for you and your family. I met a man once who would poach deer and I thought very little of him for doing that because I didn't believe in it. Come to find out him and his wife had nine kids at home four from his first wife and five from her first marriage. After I realized that I understood it was the right choice for him and he had all the right in the world to feed his family and I was the one in the wrong for thinking I was better than him and I knew or had any right to impose my feelings on how he should live.
Here is what every single one of you need to learn as you all bitch about wanting your freedom. That word freedom means freedom for EVERYONE NOT JUST FOR YOU. So you don't get to think that your way of living is any better than anyone else. You don't get to look down your nose at others because of the choices they make and in return they would have to allow you to make your choices even if they don't agree. That's why we will never be free and you have no one to blame but yourself. Leave people alone, we make mistakes all of us and whats right for one person may not be for others but its not for us to decide for them your way is not the best way. It may be for you but allow me to decide whats right for my family or if it comes to it be ready to fight and that's no good for anyone is it.

I had a question for how Peerblock generates the Range value. I thought it was just an IP lookup but when I do the lookup for an IP it gives me a CDN. I attached a pic of what I got. Thanks for the help

I did some searches and I see other people are having this problem also, but cannot find a solution. I tried adding to the Windows auto start, I even tried making a task scheduler rule -- nothing works.

Any other ideas? I've been using this app and the one before it since inception. I am so used to it auto starting sometimes I forget to manually start.

Thanks

I Keep Getting Hacked by Disney and RIAA (no replies)

The first time they got into my machine and my wife's. They got our credit card numbers and bought stupid stuff. Like they tried buying me a $5 on how to knit and some other, low cost, random girl items. They tried to buy a subscription to Match.com and some other dating service.

I redid both are machines including reflash of BIOSs.

The next time, they just started @#$%& up our application and internet connectivity.

I redid both are machines including reflash of BIOSs.

This last time, they went into one of my hardrives and deleted all the movies, but left the folders, subtitle files and other non movie files. They were all deleted on the same exact day and time.

I finally did some research and found out that hackers can get into firefox and set it up as a kind of server. I will never use firefox again -- it used to be the safest, now it is the least secure of all browsers.

Has any of this happened to any of you? Are there any other apps that we can use to protect from these asshats?

I have the full Kaspersky suite on both machines. I turn PeerBlock on when I login.

One or more of my lists require an I-BLOCKLIST subscription. This is the error I get when my Peer Block starts at boot time. The only list I have is P2P so I don't know why I'm receiving this, unless of course this is a paid list. Can someone help me with this.

Peerblock suddenly preventing Thunderbird updates (no replies)

Given that it doesn't seem to want to update its own lists lately, this is strange.

As of a few days ago, Peerblock is quietly blocking Mozilla Thunderbird (the email client) from updating itself. I don't know how one of its lists grew a new false positive that didn't used to exist, when it claims to be failing to update *itself*. But this clearly needs to be addressed. The Bluetack list is definitely not supposed to block Mozilla sites, and didn't used to.

PeerBlock not Blocking (no replies)

I had a few connections that I wanted to block. I right clicked and selected "Block Permanently", but the connection continues on to no avail. I tried doing the same to a few other connections, and those didn't get blocked either.

Another thing I noticed, unrelated to the above (I think), is I keep getting this connection to port 1900 from my router to a 250.250... address. I am also getting the same port 1900 connections from IPv6 addresses. Sometimes there are so many it is like a DOS attack. I disabled UPnP, network discovery, but I am still getting flooded. I tried to block this too, but PB isn't blocking.

Thanks
