I Keep Getting Hacked by Disney and RIAA (1 reply)

The first time they got into my machine and my wife's. They got our credit card numbers and bought stupid stuff. Like they tried buying me a $5 on how to knit and some other, low cost, random girl items. They tried to buy a subscription to Match.com and some other dating service.

I redid both are machines including reflash of BIOSs.

The next time, they just started @#$%& up our application and internet connectivity.

I redid both are machines including reflash of BIOSs.

This last time, they went into one of my hardrives and deleted all the movies, but left the folders, subtitle files and other non movie files. They were all deleted on the same exact day and time.

I finally did some research and found out that hackers can get into firefox and set it up as a kind of server. I will never use firefox again -- it used to be the safest, now it is the least secure of all browsers.

Has any of this happened to any of you? Are there any other apps that we can use to protect from these asshats?

I have the full Kaspersky suite on both machines. I turn PeerBlock on when I login.

Start Peerblock with windows 10 (1 reply)

After months of annoyance since upgrading to Windows 10 Professional, I have finally uncovered the quick & easy solution to force PeerBlock (and other apps) to load properly at Windows startup.

First, open PeerBlock settings & UNCHECK the box that says "Start with Windows".

Then, run regedit.exe with administrator priveledges & navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Create a new string value & name it PeerBlock. Double-click on the new name to open the Value Data field & insert "C:\Program Files (x86)\PeerBlock\peerblock.exe" for 32bit installations or "C:\Program Files\PeerBlock\peerblock.exe" for 64bit installations.

Close regedit, reboot & VIOLA! PeerBlock loads & appears in the tray just as it should.

You're very welcome. :-)

Peerblock Simple Text Block List? One IP Address Per Line? (1 reply)

Would this list work with Peerblock?

[lists.blocklist.de]

It looks like Peerblock wants a custom format, but could it be given a list like the one above with 1 IP address per line to block with no description or range?

So is Peerblock no longer offered as a download? (1 reply)

Every time I try to visit the Peerblock home page to download Peerblock, I always get redirected to the forums were NO download of Peerblock is offered.

Is Peerblock no longer available for download?

strange connection blocked by pb (1 reply)

hello.

I've been using peerblocker for a couple of months, and since last week I observed something strange going on.
pb did not detect much activity initially, but then it started blocking an outgoing TCP connection, to a server with IP 13.88.144.248.

Although the pb interface reports the ip belonging to a "Xerox corporation", a whois search actually revealed that the ip actually pertains to Microsoft.
What's strange, is that whichever process (more on that following) tries to connect said server, starts trying from local port 1052 (as soon as I boot the OS), and then proceeds to try the connection over every single following port, until I log out of the computer. Also kinda alarming (at least to me, I'm not very versed in networks), the remote port is always 443, which from what I gather is the one used for encrypted TCP traffic.

I also read that firewalls don't block outgoing traffic to remote 443 ports, so I forced my comodo pw to block the traffic to said ip range / port, just in case.

In regards to the process opening the connection, I tried Process Monitor to observe which one is, but could not see anything peculiar - I'm kinda sure though that it's a windows component (btw, I have w7 64bit).

Now, although it could be something related to the windows 10 upgrade fuss, I find rather strange and very aggressive on ms part to try establishing a connection in that way, especially if encrypted.

Was wondering if anybody here observed similar behaviours from their OSes and what to expect, or if I should maybe just let it connect.

Thanks,
RJ

Windows Hosts File, Speed up Load Times/Ping by 50% (4 replies)

Alright, so it's no conspiracy or paranoia that AKAMAI connects to literally everything you connect to, before you connect to it and opens a connection to your machine.

I have tested this and due to me not needing to load AKAMAIs data and then my own separate data (like if I visit facebook.com), there is a noticable difference in load times (and dramatic ping increase! (51ms to 13ms!!!)

Simply add this line to your hosts file, or copy mine below.

#Lines to add

#end of lines

You will see the top line is always connected, the others come and go at times.
I just went from 81ms ping to 10ms ping, loaded facebook.com 61% faster and then loaded twitter 34% faster.

Quite nice.

I have no idea what is going on there, but i'm glad i blocked it out, also if you use skype block this line too:
0.0.0.0 dr.skype.com

Enjoy :)

I have no idea if the others below the first line are even domains or used as spiders, but, it never hurts.

Here is a screenshot, I had a few chat websites up while harvesting for IPs for peer-block.. and ..what???

Via: 10.9.3.8.1 (That's odd, it's longer than IPv4 and I don't have or use IPv6 and that's not even it's format..)

Here's the screenshot:

Lately, Internet down when waking from sleep mode. No blocks. (1 reply)

I think I had updates disabled. I recently enabled updates, and aside from the I-blocklist issue, I seem to have problem:

When I "wake up" the computer, on Windows, the Internet connection is said to be severed. To repair it, the right-click, troubleshoot option must be used. In which case, it will not repair, unless PeerBlock is disabled.

This wouldn't be surprising to me. Except that there is nothing in the PeerBlock log suggesting that the repair process was blocked by PeerBlock. The new list I used, blocks much more than the old ones. But I've just taken to enabling HTTP...

It lists lots of Bogon ranges. I don't know if those are secret handshakes. But anyway, when I do the repair, having white-listed everything that looks like it might be infrastructure, I get nothing in the logs, but the Window's automatic repair step still fails.

So I'm left to conclude that PeerBlock is somehow getting in its way, in some other way that is not packet blocking.

EDITED: I wish I could re-enable HTTP. The taskbar troubleshooter message is something like, "Could not configure the IP address." Web searches for the real message didn't turn up anything. This was the gist of it.

BUG: while-listing 0.0.0.0 doesn't work. Prevents Windows from waking up. (4 replies)

I recently setup the list recommended in this (http://forums.peerblock.com/read.php?3,17085) the I-blocklist discussion thread.

It seems to black-list 0.0.0.0.

Windows 10 seems to use 0.0.0.0 when the computer comes out of stand-by/sleep mode. If it cannot send these packets, then it puts the Internet connection into a non-functioning state.

The trouble is, that white-listing 0.0.0.0 doesn't work. PeerBlock blocks it anyway.

It's not practical to edit the list, since in theory it's a URL that's supposed to be updated on a regular basis.

I've never had a reply to anything I post in this forum.

Can someone A) reply to say that this is being fixed, and B) fix this, and C) get it into the Auto-Update version.

Blocking LAN PC IP address (1 reply)

My installation seems to be blocking my main PC as listed a block of 192.168.1.10. This is the allocated IP address from my Netgear router. Yesterday it was blocking 192.168.1.7 the IP address allocated for my main PC again.

Why is this? Should i set my IP as fixed and add that IP address to my exceptions list?

How do I use PeerBlock and VPN for Torrenting ? (1 reply)

Maybe this looks crazy, but I want to secure myself and want to use both Peerblock and VPN for Torrenting. Before that, i was only using seed box but left after reading this torrent VPN blog which claims that VPN is better then seedbox. I am some extra bucks due to Christmas and want to secure myself from copyright infringement notice. So can I use both peer block and VPN for torrenting?

Omegle.com Pervert List [Halted] (no replies)

Hello everyone,

It tears me apart that I must stop the "omeglewarden.com / omeglewarden.weebly.com" peerblock list updates and work.

FOR THOSE THAT DO NOT COMPLETELY KNOW:
Peerblock is great for blocking out File-sharing and Sending/Receiving and video/audio feeds from websites like omegle.com and skype.

These lists included:

Spiders
Child Pornography
Botnets
Bots
Perverts
Child Pornography Distributors
Pornography on camera
Men Masturbating randomly on camera
Anyone from 4chan
Anyone from a VPN or Proxy (So you get the real IPs)
Murder / assault / violence lovers (fetishes)
All known and unknown Military (NSA, CIA, DOD, DOE, DOJ, DOS - etc) IP ranges.
People who tried and failed to DDoS my website, other projects and myself.
And a whole lot more.

I even include my own IPs so you don't run into me during my scans / harvests.

I have done "omeglewarden's lists" for going on 4 years now with massive constant updating..

I am afraid I have to stop for now.

Issues: Need funds to keep it running and to motivate me.. since I have never been paid for my work which is very extensive.

I have created a gofundme if anyone is intested, but until I reach $65 I cannot continue this work, i have set it to $2500 just in-case I need something else, like the servers bill - you never know.

To donate to my cause please visit: [funds.gofundme.com]
And thank you to those that spread my link!

Sorry :(

Hello everyone,

Below is an attachment to a Hosts file (.txt) to block out those annoying popups, ads and trackers that get through firefox/google chromes detection, websites that just have ads everywhere!

I compiled the list but did not make it.

This includes my Akamai list too.

Peerblock blocks DropAPK download server (1 reply)

I could not figure out why I could not download any APK from DropAPK. I would always get a "Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at server02.dropapk.com:182."

I eventually tried to exit Peerblock, and voila! The download started immediately no problems at all.

This tells me that Peerblock is to blame for the reason why I could not download from DropAPK.

I could load the website and click through everything—up until come time to download the APK, then I would get that error message.

But as soon as I exited Peerblock, the problem was no more.

Please fix this bug.

docker build -t ubl .
docker run -it --name ubl ubl

or

That makes means nothing to me. I guess I need a guide. This is to do with a list someone maintains.

Peer block not blocking except for Bogon file (no replies)

For a long time I have suspected that PeerBlock was/is not blocking IP addresses.
It only reports Bogon ip addresses that are blocked, and it didn't protect me when I subscribed to iblock. After a year
when my iblock subscription expired I felt it was senseless to re-subscribe iblock.

Today my Norton Security reported a malicious threat attempt and provided me with the ip address.
I added the ip address (88.85.92.19) to my permblock.p2b file. An hour later Norton again reported this ip threat and still permblock.p2b didn't block this ip.

Lucky for me that Norton Security saved me, but apparently peerblock has not been effective for sometime.

P.S. - Also your "Check spelling" option for this form doesn't work.
